Estate Improvement: Update

06/08/2015: Over the summer of 2015 the TRA undertook a survey of residents about car parking, green space and ideas on landscaping. As 17th July, a large majority of residents are in favour of pedestrian and vehicle access controls and having more greenery on the Estate. Please click here for the graph showing also the actual figures. Please click here to see the views that were expressed.

Estate Plan: prior to the AGM the TRA circulated plans and options to landscape our Estate and we showed these options at the AGM. We were pleased to receive constructive comments and ideas to further refine the Estate Plan at the AGM on 18th July. The key points that came out of this consultation included that there were preferences for both increased greenery and good parking facilities. Here is an outline draft plan of our Estate with ideas on parking, gates, greenery, and other improvements as proposed just before the AGM.

Money available for estate improvement

04/06/2014: The TRA is about to start a landscape project based on the feedback form we received from the social event in May this year. Lambeth Living has put aside approx. £40K to support a landscape project on the estate.

  • The budget needs to be spent before March 2015.
  • Proposals should be completed by October 2014
  • Implementation before March 2015.

LANDSCAPE GROUP â€“ We are setting up a group to generate ideas, feedback and to have a true representation of the estate. The aim is to have a proposal for both areas by September 2014. The TRA has recently met with Caroline Fraser in LL (landscape architect Programme Manager). LL has suggested us to work in stages in specific zones. Caroline identified two key zones for proposals/ areas that LL has already identify as key areas for intervention. The aim to to develop hard landscape and a planting scheme for both areas. ZONE 1 - Tarmac area near Quinton House Frank House and  David House. ZONE 2 – Parking area in front of Martin and Norman House.

TIMETABLE: JULY – set up the landscape group AUGUST – develop ideas SEPTEMBER – present the proposal to Lambeth Living.

GARDENING CLUB: In parallel to the Landscape project, the TRA are planning to set up a gardening club in the estate. Other estates have done this and improved their immediate environment such as Vauxhall Gardens for example.  Lambeth Living is keen to support us, donating plants as necessary.
